CMQCC has been in the forefront of national efforts to reduce elective deliveries before 39 weeks gestational age. These elective deliveries lead to preventable Neonatal Intensive Care admissions and increased long-term health risks for newborns. In 2010, CMQCC developed a toolkit that quickly became the national model, which was funded and completed in collaboration with the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Division at the California Department of Public Health and the March of Dimes. In addition, CMQCC facilitated the multi-partner national effort, enabling widespread dissemination, and partnered with the National Quality Forum to create an implementation “Playbook” that has been widely adopted across the United States.
